[Letter] 1857 June 15 to [John Albert Broadus] / C.L. Cocke. 1857.

Assured Broadus that he could attend the meeting of the trustees of Hollins Institute and still return to Charlottesville via "the cars" and "the stage." A decision concerning the question of suspending "exercises for a session or two sessions, disband the faculty and the school and endevor by means of subscription to rebuild the old houses and open again, or shall we rent other premises, continue the school as usual, rebuild and return to this place after two years." The school for young women had been contaminated by a series of typhoid fever epidemics.
